Title: Business Process Defining and Tracking System for Higher Educational Institutes in Sri Lanka

Abstract: Proper identification of the business process directly affects the proper functioning of a business. This research has been conducted to identify and define a proper business process architecture for the higher educational institutes of Sri Lanka as an aid to streamline their business process’s smooth functioning. The research team has observed several leading private higher educational institute’s business processes to identify the gap which is identified as the research problem. The research team was able to identify the core problem which is prevailing with the private higher educational institutes in Sri Lanka. The existing business process are lacking a proper business process defining and tracking methodology. The main intension of this research is to fill this gap. The research team has used different techniques to accomplish this task. The research team has developed a web based system named BiZoom to overcome this problem. The system is developed as a web based search engine. The search engine is an integrated solution of natural language processing algorithm which is used to retrieve data from the database efficiently. The system consists of 2 main parts. Namely front end and back end. Front end is for the students to enter the query as text input and it will be converted it to text format and; information is retrieved from the database with the help of the NLP algorithm developed by the research team. This algorithm was developed by referring many data searching algorithms. The back end is a significant improvement for the existing moodle website’s backend. The administration can feed the data and information efficiently into the system by using the back end of the BiZoom system. The research team has developed a generalized business process to aid this approach.
